Day 239: “Geraniums”, acrylic on paper, 8×10”

The theme for August’s paintings is flowers. I’ve been going on long daily walks and noticing beautiful flowers in full bloom. So I painted the flowers I saw during my walks, as well as flowers I’ve grown myself in my balcony. I used quick brushstrokes for these paintings, keeping them loose and impressionistic as I wanted to capture the organic, chaotic nature of these flowers rather than focus on the details. This painting was created with acrylic on heavyweight paper with a clean white border around the image. It will be unframed, signed and dated on the back.

This is part of my year long project, "This sweet simple existence". During this year of living creatively, I will create small artworks everyday based around objects from my daily life, (mostly food, household items, perhaps the view from my window etc). thereby simply documenting the extraordinary in the ordinary joys of a simple life.
